# Lochless

> Every match, not the top 10. Lochless is a hosted text index for LLMs and agents. Send raw text, then ask in plain English. It reads the documents in scope, up to a read limit you set, and returns every relevant one as a quote with your ids, or a short answer that cites them. RAG returns the closest few. No vector database, no chunking code.

- One API key, three calls at https://api.lochless.io: POST /v1/ingest, POST /v1/context and POST /v1/ask.
- MCP server at https://api.lochless.io/mcp with four read-only tools: search_documents, browse_documents, read_document and ask_documents. Browsing and reading a document are free. Sign in with OAuth or use the same key. Same billing. Listed in the MCP Registry as io.lochless/lochless.
- Free demo, no account or key: https://api.lochless.io/demo/mcp runs the same tools on 20 public US founding documents. Use it to try Lochless before signing in.
- Every response reports tokens scanned and whether coverage is complete. A free dry run shows the price before a query runs.
- Sign in with Google at console.lochless.io; the workspace opens right away with $5 of free credit, no card.

## Pricing

- $0.10 per 1M tokens scanned, plus $0.05 per /ask answer.
- Indexing: $0.005 per page of 3,000 characters, at least one page per document. Sending unchanged text again is free; changed text is charged again in full.
- Every workspace starts with $5 of free credit. Top up $10, $50 or $100 in the console.
- Every query has a read limit, $1 by default. A $100 monthly spend cap is on by default.

## Data

- Customer text is used only to serve that customer's workspace, never to train or improve anything for other customers.
- Query history is deleted after 90 days. Data is stored in the United States.
- SOC 2 Type II audit in progress.
